Imec’s Industrial-level Silicon Solar Cells Exceed 20% Efficiency

At this week’s Intersolar Show in San Francisco (July 9-12, 2012), imec presents a 20.04% large-area industrial-level silicon solar cell (certification results from Fraunhofer ISE-Callab). The cell combines a high efficiency with a low-cost industrial process.

Solar Plane in Final Stages of Completing 5,000 km Voyage

Altran, an engineering consulting company, has played an important role in the first trans-Mediterranean flight of the Solar Impulse solar plane between Switzerland and Morocco. The plane is on a round trip voyage to complete a distance of 5,000 km. At present, the solar plane has landed at the Barajas Airport in Madrid.
