Nissan Leases First Fuel Cell Vehicle to Sacramento Coca-Cola Bottling Co.

Nissan North America leased an X-TRAIL Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV), its first commercial zero emission FCV, to the Sacramento Coca-Cola Bottling Co. The fuel cell vehicle technology was developed in 1996 and since then, Nissan has supplied FCVs to Japan’s demonstration fleets and through the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP), to California.

Baskem to Supply Tetra Pak with HDPE Derived from Renewable Sources

Tetra Pak has reached agreement with the largest Brazilian petrochemical company, Braskem SA, to purchase limited volumes of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) derived entirely from a renewable feedstock. Solution to the Problem of Cleaning Cooling Water from Nuclear Reactors

Together with his colleague Sevilimendu Narasimhan from the Bhabha Atomic Research Center in Kalpakkam, India, the chemist PD Dr. Börje Sellergren from the Institute of Environmental Research at Technische Universität Dortmund has developed a new method to reduce the amount of this radioactive waste in nuclear reactor cooling water considerably. His approach: small beads consisting of a special polymer which "fishes" the radioactivity out of the water.

EDF EN Canada Announces Signing of Framework Agreement with REpower for Turbine Projects

EDF EN Canada announced on 26 November, 2009 about the signing of a framework agreement by EDF Energies Nouvelles and RES Canada with REpower, a German turbine supplier. According to the agreement, REpower will supply turbines with the electricity generating capacity of 954 MW. The turbines will be used for five wind projects in Quebec. These turbine projects are developed by Saint-Laurent Energies, which is jointly owned by RES Canada, and EDF EN Canada.
