Norsk Hydro’ Project Receives Intersolar Award Nomination

One of Norsk Hydro ASA’s R&D projects in aluminium building systems has received nomination for Intersolar Award 2010 in the category ‘solar thermal technology’. In collaboration with the University of Stuttgart, numerous divisions of the aluminum building systems operation of the company including its dedicated Solar division and Germany unit worked on the development of this project. The project work has included metal builders Früh Metallbau and Frener & Reifer.

Solar thermal collectors are integrated into an aluminium curtain wall for this project. This is one among the ten other projects to have been nominated for Intersolar Award 2010, which will be awarded at the solar industry exhibition Intersolar Europe that is likely to commence on June 9, 2010, at Munich, Germany.

A prototype of this Norsk Hydro project, measuring 3 x 4.5 m, will be showcased at the Intersolar Europe with the company’s EL aluminium façade that is Wicona branded.

The building systems brands of Norsk Hydro such as Alumafel, Domal, Technal and Wicona provide a broad variety of aluminium-based systems including doors, curtain walls, windows, railing, solar systems, skylight systems and façades.
