Applied Materials to Supply HCT B5 Wire Saws to GCL-Poly Energy

Applied Materials, an equipment provider for the solar PV industry, declared that GCL-Poly Energy, a polysilicon wafers manufacturing company based in China has ordered for the supply of HCT B5TM wire saws manufactured by the company.

The systems valued over 2.5 GW of wafering capability are anticipated to be sent to the production facilities of GCL-Poly located in Taicang, Changzhou, and Suzhou in China during present quarter of the current year. The order while increasing the demand for HCT B5 system also validates the established technology and output efficiency of HCT B5. GCL-Poly in addition to the order of HCT B5 also has bought the Applied E3TM automation software to achieve development procedural supervision and control, comprehensive maintenance support to improve the output of the system and to cut down the cost of production.

According to Jean-Maurice Imbert, Applied's Precision Wafering Systems division’s vice president and general manager, the order from GCL testifies the cost-effective advantages of using HCT B5 system, which supplies an increased level of annual production and cost advantage per-wafer than any other wire saw available in the market.
