Major Order Placed For Thin Film Solar Processing Equipment

BTU International (Nasdaq: BTUI), a leading supplier of advanced thermal processing equipment for the alternative energy and electronics manufacturing markets, announced the receipt of an order from a new, major, thin film solar customer. The order, exceeding two million dollars in value, calls for the delivery of multiple BTU in-line thermal processing systems that will enable high-volume production of thin film solar panels.

“This order demonstrates again that BTU’s thin film solar equipment is the right fit for customers who are scaling to volume production,” said Paul van der Wansem, chairman and CEO of BTU International. “Our core competency in engineering and technical performance coupled with our solar technology roadmap and global footprint are key assets which enable us to serve this fast-paced and growing market.”

BTU offers solar processing equipment for both silicon and thin film photovoltaics. In thin film photovoltaics, BTU's equipment is used for both the CIGS and the CdTe processes. Silicon photovoltaic applications are served by BTU's metallization and in-line diffusion systems.

In a separate press release issued today, BTU announced its financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended December 31, 2008.
