A new study looking at the impacts of climate change on the world’s ocean systems concludes that by the year 2100, about 98 percent of the oceans will be affected by acidification, warming temperatures, low oxygen, or lack of biological productivity – and most areas will be stricken by a multitude of these stressors.

Architectural Grille and Solar Energy Systems Commence Construction of Roof-Mounted 312 kW Solar System

Architectural Grille and Solar Energy Systems, both of Brooklyn, NY, have kicked off the construction of a roof-mounted 312-kilowatt solar system. Designed to produce 365,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually, the solar array will offset a majority of the company's kWh consumption and reduce the factory's carbon footprint by 258 metric tons of CO2 annually, which is roughly equivalent to the emissions produced by burning 30,000 gallons of gas per year.

Biofuels Produced from Genetically Modified Tobacco Plants

In her PhD thesis Ruth Sanz-Barrio, an agricultural engineer of the NUP/UPNA-Public University of Navarre and researcher at the Institute of Biotechnology (mixed centre of the CSIC-Spanish National Research Council, Public University of Navarre and the Government of Navarre), has demonstrated, for the first time, the viability of using specific tobacco proteins (known as thioredoxins) as biotechnological tools in plants.
