Clouds Formed in Polluted Airmasses May Reflect More Incoming Sunlight and Cool the Planet

Researchers at Columbia Engineering and Georgia Institute of Technology have published a study in the online Early Edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) showing—for the first time—that certain volatile organic gases can promote cloud formation in a way never considered before by atmospheric scientists. The study will be published the week of February 4, 2013.

AFPM Responds to EPA’s Proposed RVOs of 2013 Renewable Fuel Standard

The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) responded today to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) proposed Renewable Fuel Volumes (RVOs) of the 2013 Renewable Fuel Standard, required by the Clean Air Act to be promulgated no later than November 30, 2012. The proposed standards for four fuel categories will now be open to a 45-day public comment period before EPA finalizes the rules.
