Novel Wind Farm Design Inspired by Schooling Fish

Robert Whittlesey and John Dabiri of the California Institute of Technology have developed a potentially more efficient wind farm design that maximizes the efficiency of land usage. They based their approach on the way that fish school, which they will present later this month at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society's (APS) Division of Fluid Dynamics will take place from November 22-24 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

New-strategy to Produce Eco-friendly Plastics using Polylactic Acid

Scientists from the South Korean University have successfully invented a new strategy of developing polymers used for making plastics through bioengineering, and thus doing away with the usual method of using chemicals from fossil fuels. A research on this invention, which is expected to promote the usage of eco-friendly plastics, is published in the Bioengineering and Biotechnology journal, to mark the journal’s golden anniversary. Transform Recommends Ways for California to Reduce Greengas Emissions

TransForm has released a new study that discloses that people in California can meet the greenhouse gas reduction targets by changing their car culture. The study titled, ‘Windfall For All: How Connected, Convenient Neighborhoods Can Protect Our Climate and Safeguard California’s Economy,’ has found that the people who live in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento and the Bay Area spend less amount of money in transportation than the other communities that live in areas where public transportation facility is limited. The study finds that if people in these areas had better access to transportation, the state would be able to save as much as $31 billion annually on the cost of transportation and emit 34% less greenhouse gas emissions.

Year-A-Round manufactures different models of commercial corn furnaces including the 950-FA model. The heating capacity of the furnace ranges from 140,000 to 950,000 British thermal units per hour. The corn furnace can heat from 12,000 to 50,000 square feet area. The biomass furnace can be provided with an optional extra large storage bin to store more fuel. The power outage or low fire safety switch of the furnace stops the corn feeder to avoid overfill.
