Testing of Wind Augmenter and Wind Diverter Commences in Mass Megawatts Wind Power’s Hunter Project

The Hunter Project of Mass Megawatts Wind Power has been considerably completed and testing of the new wind augmenter and wind diverter has commenced. This project will be operational after the completion of the initial testing of the new technologies and testing of the furling system. The wind velocity is increased to more than 50% by the wind augmenter resulting in a 3-fold increase in the production of energy. This increase is highlighted in the initial test results. The wind diverter also brings about an additional increase of 100% more power output from the blades.

LEED Gold Certification for Industrial Buildings of The Allen Group

The first speculative industrial buildings of The Allen Group located at 4800 and 4900 Langdon Road in Dallas have received the LEED Gold Certification award. The Allen Group is the developers of the Dallas Logistics Hub (DLH), which is a multi-modal logistics park that covers 6,000 acres in Southern Dallas County. This award has been verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

Taiwan to Promote Four Energy Laws to Protect Environment: EPA Minister Stephen Shu-hung Shen

Taiwan’s EPA Minister, Stephen Shu-hung Shen, said that the country is promoting four energy laws as part of its efforts to protect the environment. The Minister stated this in an interview with CNN. The four energy laws are: Energy Management Law, Recycled Energy Development Regulations, Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act (draft) and Energy Tax Regulations (draft). Of the four energy laws, two laws, Recycled Energy Development Regulations and Amendment of Energy Management Law are being implemented from 2009, after being passed.

SunEdison and Xcel Energy Sign Solar Power Services Agreement for Five Photovoltaic Solar Installations in New Mexico

SunEdison and Southwestern Public Service Company, Xcel Energy’s regional operating company, have signed a 20-year solar power services agreement (SPSA) for five solar installations that are to be installed in New Mexico. The total generating capacity is 50 MW with each installation capable of generating 10 MW of solar power.

Ram Power Receives Geothermal Conditional Use Permit for Orita I Geothermal Project

Ram Power, Corp., a renewable energy company based in Reno, has received a Geothermal Conditional Use Permit from the Imperial County Planning Commission for the 49.9 MW Orita I Project that is located in Imperial Valley, California. The company received this permit through its wholly owned subsidiary, Ram Power, Inc. Through this permit, Ram Power will be allowed to drill up to six exploratory wells to ascertain the potential for geothermal resources in the area. Ram Power will begin to drill several large diameter wells by the end of 2010 first quarter, which may be utilized for commercial production or injection.
