New Model More Accurately Describes Greenhouse Gases Released from Arctic Peatlands

Scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory have created a new model to more accurately describe the greenhouse gases likely to be released from Arctic peatlands as they warm. Their findings, based on modeling how oxygen filters through soil, suggest that previous models probably underestimated methane emissions and overrepresented carbon dioxide emissions from these regions.

TransCanada Acquires Three Solar Power Plants from Canadian Solar

Canadian Solar Inc. (the "Company", or "Canadian Solar"), one of the world's largest solar power companies, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., has closed the sale of three solar power plants, William Rutley, Liskeard 3 and Liskeard 4, totaling 30 MW AC and valued at over C$180 million ($161.2 million) to TransCanada Corporation (TSX, NYSE: TRP) ("TransCanada").

Novelis Officially Dedicates World's Largest Aluminum Recycling Center

Construction Begins on 175MW Pilot Hill Wind Project

EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) and Microsoft Corporation today celebrated the launch of the Pilot Hill Wind Project with a groundbreaking ceremony. Located 60 miles southwest of Chicago in Kankakee and Iroquois counties, the 175 megawatt (MW) wind project is expected to begin commercial operation early in 2015. More than 100 people attended the ceremony including U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., who called it a historic day for the state of Illinois and the nation.
