Hemp Announces Approval of Industrial Hemp Remediation and Biofuel Crop Analysis Program in Hawaii

Hemp, Inc. (HEMP) is pleased to publicize the signing of Senate Bill 2175 (Act 56) by Hawaii Governor, Neil Abercrombie to allow the state's University of Hawaii, College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (at Manoa) to establish a two-year industrial hemp remediation and biofuel crop research and analysis program.

Melting Ice in East Antarctica could Raise World Sea Levels, Study Finds

The melting of a rather small ice volume on East Antarctica’s shore could trigger a persistent ice discharge into the ocean, resulting in unstoppable sea-level rise for thousands of years to come. This is shown in a study now published in Nature Climate Change by scientists from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). The findings are based on computer simulations of the Antarctic ice flow using improved data of the ground profile underneath the ice sheet.

Canadian Solar to Receive Credit Facility for Construction of Three Solar Power Projects

Canadian Solar Inc., one of the world's largest solar power companies, today announced that the National Bank of Canada will provide the Company with C$115.5 million, in short-term construction financing. The credit facility will be used to support the construction of three solar power projects in Ontario, Canada, totaling 30 MWac.

Pattern Energy to Acquire 179 MW of Owned Interest in 218 MW Panhandle 1 Wind Project

Growing its portfolio to 11 wind power projects, Pattern Energy Group Inc., today announced it has agreed to acquire 179 megawatts (MW) of owned interest in the 218 MW Panhandle 1 wind project from Pattern Energy Group LP following its completion, expected in June 2014, for a total cash consideration of US$125 million.

A ribbon cutting ceremony today officially opened the nearby Pecan Row landfill gas generating facility, which will produce more than 4 megawatts (MW) of power for Green Power EMC, a green energy cooperative owned by 38 Electric Membership Corporations (EMC) in Georgia.

First Wind Completes Financing for 148 MW Wind Project in Aroostook County, Maine

First Wind, an independent U.S.-based renewable energy company, today announced that it has closed financing for its 148 megawatt (MW) wind project in Aroostook County, Maine. With financing in place, First Wind will continue on schedule with construction with commercial operations expected in the fourth quarter of 2015.
