Schive to Develop Lithium Sulfur Rechargeable Battery Systems Using OXIS Cell Technology

OXIS and Schive have concluded a new partnership deal that combines OXIS's expertise in the development of the next generation of cell technology with one of Schive's specialities - designing and manufacturing battery packs. Schive will develop lithium sulfur rechargeable battery systems for sub-sea, military and industrial customers using the OXIS revolutionary cell technology, renowned for its lightness and safety.

GE’s Renewable Energy Business Reports 3.9 GW Cumulative US Wind Turbine Supply Orders

Today, GE’s renewable energy business announced a cumulative 3.9 gigawatts (GW) of firm and unconditional wind turbine supply orders in the United States since January 1, 2013, the date of the Production Tax Credit extension. Of these orders, 1.1 GW of GE technology was placed into service in 2013. The remaining 2.8 GW will be commissioned or begin construction by the end of 2015.

Climate Change Likely to Get Worse in the U.S., says Berkeley Lab Climate Scientist

By the end of this century climate change will result in more frequent and more extreme heat, more drought, and fewer extremes in cold weather in the United States. Average high temperatures could climb as much as 10 or more degrees Fahrenheit in some parts of the country. These are some of the projections made by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) climate scientist Michael Wehner and his co-authors on the National Climate Assessment (NCA).

SunEdison Completes Construction of 100 MW Utility-Scale Solar Power Plants in the U.K.

Siemens Energy Wins Major Wind Turbine and Service Order for Ontario Wind Farm

Today, Siemens Energy announced a major wind turbine and service order in Canada at the AWEA WINDPOWER tradeshow in Las Vegas. Along with the South Kent Wind Farm in Chatham-Kent, Ontario, the 270-MW K2 Wind Ontario (K2 Wind) Project will be among the largest wind power plants in Canada. It is located in Goderich in southwestern Ontario and will feature 140 units of the Siemens SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines.

Martifer Solar Delivers One of First Unsubsidized Solar Power Plants in Italy to Ikea Group

Martifer Solar, a subsidiary of Martifer SGPS, has delivered one of the first unsubsidized solar power plants in Italy for the Ikea Group on the rooftop of a new commercial store in Pisa, Tuscany. The project has a total capacity of 696.15 kWp and has been structured without a feed-in-tariff approach.
