Ultrasonic Systems Obtains Order for 20 PV-360 PV Cell Coating Systems

Ultrasonic Systems (USI), a manufacturer of ultrasonic spray coating equipment used for solar applications, has declared that it has obtained a multi system order for the company’s third generation PV-360 used in thermal diffusion process.

This order was obtained from a China-based customer and is for 20 PV-360 coating systems. According to Ultrasonic, the machines would be able to apply a thinner and much more uniform coating of boric and phosphoric acids with the other proprietary dopants on a huge scale. The PV-360 utilizes the USI’s nozzle free ultrasonic spray head technology and provides a repeatable and a highly homogenous coating when compared to other technologies such as mist or roll coating.

The PV-360, which is ideal for inline and high volume manufacturing, can process on an hourly basis 4300 wafers with dimensions of 125 nm each. It enhances efficiency, manufacturing quality, reliability and throughput for inline thermal diffusion and other processes such as laser doped selective emitter (LDSE). USI’s President, Stuart Erickson remarked that manufacturers of solar cells are ready to embrace technologies that enhance the reliability, throughput, efficiency and quality of their solar cells.
