SunPower, that designs, produces and delivers solar panels and systems for utility, government, business and residential clients, declared that it has entered into a strategic supply accord with Toshiba to supply solar panels.
Toshiba will place an order for the supply of 48 MW high power generating solar panels from SunPower in 2011 and the order is anticipated to get completed before 31st March 2012. Toshiba is planning to utilize the solar panels to sustain the supply commitments the company has made to the residential users in Japan. The residential program was introduced last year with an accord to supply 32 MW of SunPower solar panels.
According to Takeshi Yokota, Toshiba’s Photovoltaic Systems Division’s general manager, the company had launched its residential solar sales program in Japan in the early part of last year and achieved significant sales. The company is looking forward to consolidating the success and increasing its market share by further fortifying its association with SunPower.
