First Step Towards Generating Bioelectricity without Producing Carbon Dioxide

In an electrifying first, Stanford scientists have plugged in to algae cells and harnessed a tiny electric current. They found it at the very source of energy production - photosynthesis, a plant's method of converting sunlight to chemical energy. It may be a first step toward generating "high efficiency" bioelectricity that doesn't give off carbon dioxide as a byproduct, the researchers say.

Satcon Receives 150MW Order from GCL Solar for Solar PV Inverters

Satcon Technology Corporation, a principal supplier of utility scale power products for use by the renewable energy industry, has received an order from GCL Solar Limited, a leading solar power plant developing and supplying company, for the supply of 300 units of its 500kW solar PV inverters totaling 150 megawatts of power. Hydra Tidal Planning to Use Laminated Pine Wood as Turbine Wing Blades

Hydra Tidal, a company based at Harstad, has announced its plans of installing a full-fledged tidal energy plant working model at Gimsøystraumen, a marine channel located in Nordland County. The proposed Morild-type floating power plant would remain tied to the seabed and remain beneath the surface of water most of the time. The turbine wing blades required for running the plant are made of laminated pine wood and span 23 diameters.
