UD5 and UJ6 PV Modules from Mitsubishi Electric Ready for Installation Near Salt Water

A confirmation was made by Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics that the company’s UD5 and UJ6 photovoltaic (PV) modules can be installed near salt water. Mitsubishi Electric, after an intense factory testing found that its PV modules possessed an adequate level of insulation from the corrosive effect of salt air and ocean front environment, which in turn will enable these PV modules to maintain the specifications of power output as mentioned in its warranty.

Umwelt-Sonne-Energie Completes Largest Solyndra Rooftop PV System Project in Belgium

Solyndra announced that its authorized reseller, Umwelt-Sonne-Energie GmbH, has completed the largest collective Solyndra project to date. Solyndra manufactures cylindrical photovoltaic systems for applications in commercial rooftops. Solyndra’s cylindrical photovoltaic systems with a total generation capacity of 1.9 MWp were installed on the rooftops of 10 sites in Belgium that is owned by an international food retailer.

Canadian Solar announced that it has entered into a PV modules sales contract with Fire Energy Group. As per the contract terms, Fire Energy will receive 60MW of PV modules in 2010. Canadian Solar has started shipments in January.

The Glendale Energy Power Plant, a biogas plant at the city of Glendale’s municipal landfill, has started sending its entire output of energy to APS customers. The 2.8-megawatt biogas plant is owned and operated by Sexton Energy’s subsidiary, Glendale Energy LLC.

Suntech Power Holdings has selected the city of Goodyear in Arizona to locate its first solar module manufacturing plant in United States. This was announced by the company and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer at the AZ4Solar Symposium. Suntech Power is the largest crystalline silicon photovoltaic module manufacturer in the world.

EDP Renovaveis has acquired an 85% stake in Italian Wind srl from Co-Ver Group, which is an industrial conglomerate from the north of Italy. The acquisition has helped the company to add several wind energy projects in Italy to its portfolio. The wind energy projects totaling 520 MW are in prime locations.

U.S. District Court Approves Agreement to Protect Indiana Bat, Invenergy Wind to Proceed with Construction of West Virginia Wind Farm

Following the approval of Invenergy Wind’s agreement with wildlife groups by U.S. District Judge Roger Titus, the company is proceeding immediately with the construction of its Greenbrier County, West Virginia wind farm. The wind energy facility is capable of generating up to 100 MW of power.

T-Solar Group Signs Solar Plant Joint Development Agreement with Global Ecopower

T-Solar Group and Global Ecopower are set to jointly develop 120 MWp of solar photovoltaic plants over the next three years in France. The joint development agreement was signed by both the companies. T-Solar Group and Global Ecopower have formed a joint venture company, T-SEP, with equal stake for the development, construction, and operation of these solar photovoltaic plants.
