University of Arkansas researchers examined records of 65,987 daily mean temperature observations to reconstruct climate data in Manhattan, Kan., for the past 180 years and have found that 19th century temperatures were significantly cooler than in the 20th and early 21st centuries.

In a paper published in the American Chemical Society journal, Macromolecules, scientists from IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Stanford University detail discoveries that could lead to the development of new types of biodegradable, biocompatible plastics. The result of a multi-year research effort, the breakthrough also could lead to a new recycling process that has the potential to significantly increase the ability to recycle and reuse.

United States Export-Import Bank Names Suniva as “Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year”

Export-Import Bank of the United States has named Suniva as the “Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year.” Suniva is a producer of monocrystalline silicon solar cells and solar modules in the United States. CEO of Suniva, John Baumstark, received the award at the EX-IM Bank Annual Conference.

U.S. Green Building Council Awards LEED Gold Certification for Three Eldridge Place in Texas

U.S. Green Building Council has awarded a LEED Core and Shell Gold certification to a newly built 13-story office building, Three Eldridge Place, which is in the Behringer Harvard REIT I’s portfolio. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is the national standard for green buildings including its design, construction and operation.

Solar Pool Heating Panels from Techno-Solis

The c15ts12 solar pool heating panel is a maintenance free panel. When the pool pump sends cool water from the pool to the collector, the water is heated up with the help of solar power. As the water runs to the top header pipe of the panel, it gets warmed up and returned to the pool.
