Raft River Geothermal Project by U.S. Geothermal

The Raft River geothermal project was obtained in the year, 2002. U.S. Geothermal made a contract with the Idaho Power company to provide electricity up to 10 megawatts from the power plant of Raft River Unit 1 for 20 years. The Raft River Unit 1 has begun its commercial operations from January 2008 onwards.

Terra Geothermal supplies and installs ground source heat pumps. The company utilizes forced air systems, hydronic systems and controls in their Platinum GeoExchange installation package. The Premium G series ground source heat pump manufactured by GeoSmart (WaterFurnace) is a forced air system. It uses the R-410A refrigerant, which has non-ozone depleting features.

Solland Solar Offers Sunweb Back-Contact Solar Cells

Solland Solar develops and produces special and standard six inch multicrystalline photovoltaic solar cells. The solar cells available from the company are: back-contact cells, standard cells and B2B. The back-contact solar cell technology is developed in cooperation with ECN. The Sunweb back-contact solar cell from the company is based on “metal wrap through” technology. Its extra surface area captures sunlight to provide higher output.

The Traeger range furnaces offered by the company are commercial grade systems and they are available in four models, namely, GBU 070, GBU 130, GBU 400 and PB 150. The heating capacities of these pellet furnaces range from 70,000 BTU to 425,000 BTU.

Joule Biotechnologies Signs Lease Agreement to Build Renewable Solar Fuel Pilot Plant in Texas

Joule Biotechnologies has signed a lease agreement to build its first pilot plant in Leander, Texas. The transformative system will be further developed and tested by the company to study its capability for producing renewable solar fuels. This system, which does not require expensive feedstock or processing steps and powered by sunlight, is being engineered to overshadow the cost efficiencies, scale and productivities of biomass-dependent approaches. The plant is expected to be functional within the first half of the year 2010 and the site was selected for its convenient location and high solar insolation feature.

U.S. Army CECOM has awarded a $1.85 million contract to Protonex Technology Corporation under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to develop and supply advanced portable battery charger/APU fuel cell systems. Protonex Technology, a leading developer of advanced fuel systems, had expected this contract award and announced that in its results.
