AMSC Secures Orders for Wind Turbine Electrical Control Systems from Shenyang Blower Works

American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC), a global power technologies company, announced today that it has received an initial order for full wind turbine electrical control systems from China’s Shenyang Blower Works (Group) Co., Ltd. (SBW) that is worth approximately US$70 million. The systems will be deployed in the 2 megawatt (MW) doubly fed induction wind turbines that were co-developed with AMSC Windtec™, a wholly owned subsidiary of AMSC. This is the largest initial electrical control system order that AMSC has received to date from any wind turbine customer.

Nesjavellir Geothermal Plant Developed by Orkuveita Reykjavikur

Orkuveita Reykjavikur develops the Nesjavellir geothermal plant. The plant produces electricity as well as hot water by using the geothermal water and steam. The output of the geothermal plant is 120MWe and 300MWt/1800 liters for every second. The exploration in the geothermal plant site was started in the year 1947 and continued for two more years. At that time, few experimental boreholes were made to evaluavate the steam’s chemical composition, and exploitable power.

GA-Solar to Invest $ 1 Billion to Construct Photovoltaic Project in New Mexico

Consumers Energy Moves Forward with Wind Generation Development Plan in Michigan

With the securing of easements for about 60,000 acres till date, Consumers Energy is moving forward with its development plan for wind energy in Michigan with total investments of more than $1.2 billion.
