CPUC Approves Southern California Edison’s Tehachapi Renewable Energy Transmission Project

Southern California Edison’s (SCE) application to construct segments 4 to 11 of the Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project (TRTP) was approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). This project is the first transmission project that is being constructed in California for the specific purpose of accessing multiple renewable energy generators in remote areas that are rich in renewable sources. The construction of the transmission line is consistent with California’s renewable energy goals.

Laidlaw Berlin BioPower Seeks Approval for 70-Megawatt Biomass Energy Facility

An all-inclusive permit application has been filed by Laidlaw Berlin BioPower, LLC with the New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee (NHSEC). Through this application, Laidlaw Berlin BioPower seeks approvals for the construction and operation of a nominal 70 megawatt biomass-energy facility that will be located at the former Fraser Papers pulp mill in Berlin.

GDF SUEZ Completes Construction of Largest Wind Facility in New Brunswick

GDF SUEZ has completed the construction of the largest wind operation, Caribou Wind Park, in the province of New Brunswick. Commercial operation at Caribou Wind Park has also started in this facility, which is located 70 kilometers northwest of Bathurst, New Brunswick. In order to fulfill a 20-year power purchase agreement with New Brunswick Power, this 99-megawatt facility will supply its entire power to the utility. The electricity produced in Caribou Wind Park is sufficient to power 30,000 homes and meets about 2% of the power requirements in the province.
