Pattern Energy Group Buys Gulf Wind Project from Babcock + Brown

Pattern Energy Group announced that it has purchased the 283-MW Gulf Wind project from Babcock & Brown. The wind project comprises 118 wind turbines and is capable of producing 283 MW of electricity, which is equal to annual electricity usage of about 80,000 homes in Texas.

Allstate Insurance Company Receives LEED Gold Certification

U.S. Green Building Council has awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification to Allstate Insurance Company’s new data center in Rochelle, Illinois. The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) has verified the certification. LEED is the leading program for certifying high performance green buildings in the country for their design, construction and operation.

A joint announcement was made by Bank of America, Yolo County, and SunPower that a 1-MW solar power system will be designed and constructed by SunPower for Yolo County. The proposed solar energy system will be installed at the Justice Center of Yolo County in Woodland, California.

Global Solar Photovoltaic Installations Reaches 6.43 GW in 2009: Marketbuzz 2010 Report

Solar photovoltaic installations across the world touched a record high of 6.43 GW in 2009, representing a year-on-year growth of 6%. This was revealed in the latest edition of Marketbuzz 2010 Report from Solarbuzz, a part of The NPD Group. Solarbuzz is a consulting and international solar energy market research company. According the report, global revenues of $38 billion was generated by the PV industry in 2009. In addition, over $13.5 billion was successfully raised by the industry in debt and equity in 2009, an increase of 8% from the previous year.
