An amendment was executed by Western Wind and Southern California Edison to the Power Purchase Agreement for the 120 Megawatt Windstar Project. This was announced by Western Wind Energy Corp. The 120 Megawatt Windstar Project is located in Tehachapi, California. The terms are updated to reflect current market conditions through this amendment, though the agreement details are confidential.

Green Biodegradable Plastics Exhibit High Potential for Growth

Biodegradable plastics possess a higher potential for growth in comparison with the existing eco-friendly technologies in the chemical and renewable energy sectors, as these biodegradable plastics come under the “green” category. This is evident as the opportunities are growing for biodegradable plastics in areas that include healthcare, packaging/plastic bags, electronics, automotive, agriculture and consumer goods. Factors such as green procurement policies, governmental measures and climate change contribute to the growth of this sector.

Magnum Completes Removal and Processing of Scrap Tires at Hudson Facility

Magnum D'Or Resources announced the completion of the process of removing and processing a disposal pit of scrap tires at its Hudson facility. This is the first time that the tire volume has been reduced at the Hudson facility. This achievement by Magnum D'Or Resources highlights its aim of utilizing the entire stock of about 35,000,000 tires that were already disposed and that are currently available at the site within the Colorado Legislative order of 10 years.

Northwind 100 Wind Turbine, Solar Hot Water and Solar Electric System Installed at Heritage Aviation

A wind turbine on-site has been installed at Heritage Aviation, the newly constructed General Aviation Facility at the Burlington International Airport. This 100kW wind turbine is a Northwind 100, manufactured by Northern Power of Barre VT. A solar hot water system and a 25kW solar electric system have also been installed by Heritage Aviation to complete its on-site portfolio of renewable energy generation.

EDP Renovaveis Signs Agreement with JPM Capital Corporation for Lost Lakes Wind Farm

An agreement to secure $90 million of institutional equity financing was signed by EDP Renovaveis through its subsidiary unit, Horizon Wind Energy LLC. This financing is provided by JPM Capital Corporation in exchange for a partial interest in EDP Renovaveis’ 101 megawatt Lost Lakes Wind Farm that was installed at Dickinson County, Iowa in December 2009.

Axion Power International Receives Grant for Development of Battery Energy Storage System

The Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority has awarded a grant to Axion Power International, a developer of lead-carbon PbC batteries. This grant will be utilized to develop and deploy an Axion PowerCube battery energy storage system with the usage of Axion Power International’s proprietary PbC battery technology. This 500 kilowatt PowerCube will be constructed and installed at the New Castle battery manufacturing facility. The PowerCube battery energy storage system will be designed to improve a future solar-powered electric vehicle charging station, a potential wind-powered energy system and a Smart Grid distribution system.

Puget Sound Energy Customers Connect Solar Systems to Utility Grid

Puget Sound Energy has seen a rapid growth of its customers connecting their small business or home solar system to the utility in 2009, making it as the fastest-growing year for renewably energy. With the addition of nearly 200 solar systems installed by its customers, the total number of grid-connected systems has increased to 516 making it the largest producer of renewable energy from customer’s solar arrays in Washington. In the year 2007, the total number of customers connected to the PSE grid was only 100. The total generating capacity from the customer’s solar systems has increased to 2 MW.

The LEED India Platinum Rating, world’s highest rating for green buildings, was given to ITC Hotel Royal Gardenia. The luxury hotel belongs to the ITC group and is located in Bengaluru city, India. The achievement makes this hotel the largest platinum rated hotel in the world. This recognition demonstrates the ITC’s commitment to adopt sustainability practices. The energy efficiency strategy adopted by the company has enabled it to become water positive, carbon positive and solid waste recycling positive making it the only company to achieve this feat in the world.

China Integrated Energy to Acquire Three Gas Stations in Shaanxi Province, China

China Integrated Energy has reached separate agreements to acquire three gas stations, which are located near the city of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, PRC. The gas stations to be acquired are Jinzheng gas station, Jindou gas station and Andong gas station.

EnviroStor Solar Water Heater and Storage Tanks from Simmons Heating + Air Conditioning

The EnviroStor solar water heater incorporates 1½ inches single coil. However, dual coils are available with models having 80 to 119 gallon capacity. The solar storage tank and coil feature Cglass porcelain enamel glass lines. The storage tank and coil offer high resistance to aggressive water. Due to the presence of enamel glass lines, the storage tank and coil are not prone to damages caused by chlorides present in the water.

Oxford Solar Offers Sunny 28 Flat Plate Solar Collectors

Oxford Solar provides the Sunny 28 flat plate solar collector from SolarFocus. The solar thermal collector is made from a material that is resistant to both rust and corrosion. Materials like wood, plastic, or rubber seals are not used in the manufacture of solar collector. The surface absorber of the flat plate collector is fully featured with selective blue line. The solar collector includes a glass cover made of 4mm solar safety glass that offers 92 percent solar transmission.
