Germany Initiates Program to Develop OLED Displays and Lighting Applications

A new national R+D project has recently been started in Germany focusing on the development of OLED displays and lighting applications. AIXTRON will participate in this 14.7 million Euro project together with ten other partners with the target to strengthen Germany's leading position in the fast growing OLED market.

Aide Solar Debut 230W Polycrystalline Black Frame Solar Panels

Aide Solar, a large-scale producer of photovoltaic modules, today announced that its new 230 watt poly-crystalline black frame solar panels have debuted as an energy-efficient feature on the NextGen “Home for the Generations” at the International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, January 19-22, 2010. The 1,800 sq. foot home spotlighting friendly products and a greater focus on energy efficiency was built onsite at IBS as part of the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s "Builders’ Challenge.”

Design of Foundations for Offshore Wind and Wave Energy Plants Can be Used to Increase Local Marine Life Populations

Offshore wind power and wave energy foundations can increase local abundances of fish and crabs. The reef-like constructions also favour for example blue mussels and barnacles. What's more, it is possible to increase or decrease the abundance of various species by altering the structural design of foundation. This was shown by Dan Wilhelmsson of the Department of Zoology, Stockholm University, in a recently published dissertation.

ZBB Energy to Receive $14,685,000 Federal Tax Credits for Manufacture of Renewable Energy Storage Products

An announcement was received by ZBB Energy on 8 January, 2010 that the company’s application for a $14,685,000 Advanced Energy Manufacturing tax credit has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service under section 48C of the Internal Revenue Code and authorized under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

Crownbutte Wind Power Completes Review of Geotechnical Reports for Gascoyne I 19.5 MW Wind Project

Crownbutte Wind Power, a developer of merchant wind power parks in North Dakota, has completed its review of geotechnical reports from Braun Intertec Corporation of Fargo, ND. These reports are based on a geotechnical survey that was completed in April 2009 at the Crownbutte’s Gascoyne I 19.5 megawatt wind project site in Bowman County, ND.

Alberta Utilities Commission Grants Approval for Greengate Power’s Halkirk I Wind Energy Project

Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) has granted approval to Greengate Power Corporation for the construction and operation of its Halkirk I Wind Project. The company has scheduled to commence operations of the facility during the first quarter of 2011. The construction of the project is expected to begin during later part of the year 2010.
