CalciTech Waste Recovery Projects Improve Sustainability of Industrial Processes

CalciTech has made an announcement regarding the waste recovery projects carried out by the company in Asia and Europe. This announcement was made on 24 November 2009. Improving the sustainability of industrial processes is the main purpose of this project, besides the goal of obtaining a superior quality of ultrapure Synthetic Calcium Carbonate (SCC). Mineral lime water obtained from industrial processes is converted into ultrapure Synthetic Calcium Carbonate. Ultrapure Synthetic Calcium Carbonate is used in the industries dealing with polymer, sealant, paint and paper coating.

Multi-year Framework Agreement Signed between Solyndra and Sun System

Sun System has signed a multi-year framework agreement worth $105 million with Solyndra, which manufactures proprietary photovoltaic systems for rooftops of commercial buildings. Sun System is a solar integrator located in Milan, Italy. Solyndra has branches in Milpitas and Fremont, where the production of solar panels will be carried out.

Energy Saving Technologies from EASI Helped to Save Energy in the Arroyo Plant

Stryker Puerto Rico, with the installation of energy saving technologies obtained from Energy Automation Systems (EASI), was able to reduce its consumption of energy by 258,000 kilowatts every month. The energy usage of the Arroyo plant, which is the manufacturing facility of Puerto Rico’s high technology medical devices, decreased from 1,436,000 kilowatt hours to 1,177,000 resulting in 18 percent reduction.

Environmental Defense Fund Appreciates California’s Preliminary Draft Regulation

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) received appreciation for its preliminary draft regulation (PDR) by the Environmental Defense Fund. The preliminary draft regulation helps in designing a cap-and-trade program, as simultaneous measures, to reduce pollution caused by global warming, and the measures are formulated by the Environmental Defense Fund. The Global Warming Solutions Act expects to reduce pollution caused by global warming to 15 percent by the year 2020.

Solverdi Worldwide Signs Renewable Contract with IBI

Solverdi Worldwide has signed an annual contract of US$14.8 million, which will enable Solverdi to supply biofuels energy to Turkish Republic Northern Cyprus. Solverdi and IBI have signed a renewable contract for 15 years, which covers five years per term. IBI has assigned Solverdi to supply biofuel to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Duke Energy Indiana Files Information for Semi-Annual Update to IURC

According to Duke Energy Indiana, for the Edwardsport coal gasification plant, which is under construction at Southwest Indiana, the modification of design for further growth can add $150 million to the total project cost of $2.35 billion. Duke Energy Indiana has submitted this information to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) as a part of the semi-annual update.
