Solar-Powered Charging Station for Electric Vehicles Installed by Coulomb Technologies in Hawaii

Coulomb Technologies has installed its first ChargePoint Networked Charging Station for electric vehicles in Honolulu, Hawaii. This solar powered charging station at Green Energy Outlet, a supplier of eco-friendly materials, was installed and will be maintained by WindChargeUSA, Coulomb’s distributor in Hawaii. This is the second electric vehicle charging station to be installed in Hawaii that utilizes renewable energy sources. The wind-turbine station is used for charging electric vehicles owned by MECO.

Evolution Solar Supports Solar Hot Water Act

A new bill nicknamed “10 Million Solar Roofs and 10 Million Gallons of Solar Hot Water Act” filed by Bernie Sanders has drawn support from Evolution Solar Corp. Up to 50% of the cost of new solar systems would be provided as rebate under the proposed Act, similar to incentive programs that are currently in New Jersey and California. The objective of the bill is to install 200, 000 solar heaters and 10 million solar roofs totaling 30,000 MW over during the next 10 years.

Office Depot to Seek LEED CI Certification for its New Stores

Office Deport, in a major green initiative, will seek LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for CI (Commercial Interiors) from the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) for it new retail stores opening from June 2010. LEED CI certification is provided to buildings that are equipped with green interiors that are less costly to maintain and operate and has minimum environmental footprint.

Currently, UPC Renewables has wind projects in construction stage totaling 150 MW. The company has projects in pipeline for 3 GW.
