Evolution Solar Supports Solar Hot Water Act

A new bill nicknamed “10 Million Solar Roofs and 10 Million Gallons of Solar Hot Water Act” filed by Bernie Sanders has drawn support from Evolution Solar Corp. Up to 50% of the cost of new solar systems would be provided as rebate under the proposed Act, similar to incentive programs that are currently in New Jersey and California. The objective of the bill is to install 200, 000 solar heaters and 10 million solar roofs totaling 30,000 MW over during the next 10 years.

Office Depot to Seek LEED CI Certification for its New Stores

Office Deport, in a major green initiative, will seek LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for CI (Commercial Interiors) from the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) for it new retail stores opening from June 2010. LEED CI certification is provided to buildings that are equipped with green interiors that are less costly to maintain and operate and has minimum environmental footprint.

Global Environment Fund Invests $30 Million in UPC Renewables China Holdings for Wind Energy Development

Global Environment Fund (GEF), a private equity firm, has invested $30 million in UPC Renewables China Holdings for the development of wind power in China. UPC Renewables is a renewable energy producer focusing mainly in the wind energy sector. This investment from GEF will utilized by the company for developing wind energy projects in China. Currently, UPC Renewables has wind projects in construction stage totaling 150 MW. The company has projects in pipeline for 3 GW.

International Solar Electric Technology Offers CIGS Technology for Producing Solar Cells

International Solar Electric Technology produces solar cells by utilizing the thin film CIGS technology. This technology involves the production of solar cells using CIGS or Copper Indium Gallium Diselenide materials.
